A COUNCILLOR has given Willaston some extra Christmas sparkle this year.

Myles Hogg has spent some of his personal project’s allowance on new Christmas lights for the tree on the green in the centre of the village.

The 400 new bulbs will ensure the village also has a ‘greener’ Christmas because they are low energy.

He said: “The tree looks superb and I’m so happy to have been able to help my local community have such a wonderful Christmas decoration in the centre of the village.”

The tree remains lit both day and night as the new bulbs use so little energy and the warmth from them stops moisture build-up, which can cause bulb failures.
