FAMILIES and friends who remembered loved ones on Whitchurch’s Tree of Light helped raise £1,400 for charity.

The Rotary Club’s Christmas tradition proved more popular than ever before this year.

People made generous donations at shops around the town to light up a small bulb on the civic centre’s Christmas tree.

The Rotarians’ scheme also gave people the chance to write a message in remembrance of friends and family, which are collected in a book in the heritage centre.
