A PRIMARY school in Ellesmere Port has opened an outdoor learning area paid for with £10,000 of Lottery funding.

Ellesmere Port mayor Angela Claydon arrived at Whitby Heath Primary School last Wednesday to see the new equipment.

The area for foundation stage children has been dramatically redeveloped to include a climbing frame, a traverse wall, a balance beam, a mini-beast area, a large water area, a climb-in sand pit and a vegetable patch, where children will grow vegetables and distribute them among the community.

Foundation teacher Dale Jones said: “The mayor spoke to the children about their new garden.”
