FORMER West End performer Alex Durrant will be developing the stars of the future as West Cheshire College’s new drama and dance tutor.

Alex’s CV includes performances in Cats, Beauty and the Beast and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers on the West End stage.

He has also been part of the English National Opera, the English National Ballet and has taught at the West End Stage Academy.

Alex said: “I’m having an absolutely brilliant time at the college. The staff, students and the facilities are all fantastic.

“As well as teaching, I have helped choreograph several of the college’s shows including the grand opening of the Ellesmere Port campus.

“I have a lot of experience in the industry and a lot of contacts. I am planning to invite various people from the industry to come in and lead workshops for students to help broaden their horizons.”

Sharon Brown, assistant manager of performing arts at West Cheshire College, said: “We are delighted to welcome Alex to our team. His experience is fantastic and an inspiration for all our students.

“We have appointed several new performing arts tutors recently who all have amazing experience in the industry. Their skills and knowledge are invaluable to our students.”

The college has also recently appointed BAFTA-winning scriptwriter Steve Lawson as a tutor.

Next year Steve will be teaching a brand new course at the college based on acting in film and TV.
