SPORTS tutor Simon O’Brien is vowing to raise more than £2,000 for the Stroke Association when he runs in the London Marathon next year.

And the 22-year-old is looking for support to help him reach his ambitious target.

Simon, who lives in Neston and teaches sports at West Cheshire College, made it his chosen cause after his mother died suddenly of a stroke last year aged 65.

He said: “It was totally unexpected and left us devastated.

“I’ve wanted to do something practical to remember her by ever since so running the marathon to support the charity that helped us seemed a good idea.”
