PREPARATIONS are under way in Ellesmere Port to stage celebrations to mark the arrival of a flame from the Paralympic Games this summer.

On August 25 two Paralympic ambassadors from Cheshire West and Chester will deliver the flame in a miner’s lamp and kick-start celebrations at the entrance rotunda of West Cheshire College.

The event’s theme will be celebrating the Paralympic Movement by demonstrating inclusively, endeavour and achievement in the field of sport, art and music.

Ellesmere Port is one of four areas chosen to stage the honour from across the North West.

Other sporting venues in the town will stage activities, including the EPIC Leisure Centre and Stanney Oakes Leisure Centre and athletics track.

There will also be musical performances and art exhibitions.
