A college and a store teamed up to raise more than £400 for charity.

Students at West Cheshire College in Ellesmere Port are walking tall after staging a fashion show in collaboration with Marks & Spencer Cheshire Oaks.

The evening was organised to raise money for Guide Dogs for the Blind, the store’s chosen charity.

The event, which took place in the rotunda at the college’s Ellesmere Port campus, involved more than 30 students, college staff and M&S employees who all helped make the show a success.

A mix of technical theatre, fashion retail and dance students lent a hand to ensure the catwalk was lit and the models were styled in line with M&S branding.

Beci Clark and Abby Harding, visual merchandisers for Marks & Spencer, contacted the college with the idea of organising the fashion show on behalf of the charity.

“The fashion show was a great success and it was very rewarding to see so many people come and support such a great cause,” said Beci.

“Abby and I were former students at the college between the years 2010-2012 and know how much they love to get involved with events such as this.

“The fashion retail students did a great job in helping us to organise the event and we couldn’t have done it without them and their tutor, Jo Williams.”

The evening included a catwalk show, which showcased a selection of Marks & Spencer’s men’s, women’s and children’s clothing as well as a raffle with a selection of prizes up for grabs.

Maria Davison, area manager of creative arts at the college, said: “The fashion show was a huge success and it’s great that so much money was raised.

“The students put so much effort into organising the event and it was great to see so many students from different courses get involved.”

Over the past financial year, the store has raised £25,000 for Guide Dogs for the Blind.
