West Cheshire College showed its support for Adult Learners Week by praising the achievements of its star adult learners.

The national celebration of lifelong learning has reached its 23rd year.

The college provides full-time courses, part-time professional courses and apprenticeships for adult learners.

It can also help adults access education without paying upfront by providing information and guidance on obtaining 24+ Advanced Learning Loans.

Nigel Davies, principal and chief executive at the college, said:“Whether you are looking for a complete career change or part-time training alongside your current job, then we have the right course for you.

“Many adults are concerned about funding for courses, but we have a dedicated information and guidance team who can give adults all the advice they need about funding their course.”

He continued:“We are very proud of all of our adult learners here at the college.

“We have some very successful students who have transformed their career after studying here.”

Alison Brawn, 34, from Ellesmere Port, studied access to higher education diploma in nursing and midwifery.

“I have five children so have had to juggle my studies but I have had lots of support from my husband and the tutors,” she said.

“I am a caring person and I believe I can be an asset to the NHS which is why I decided to do the course.

“My next step is to study a degree at the University of Chester and then go on to do a master’s degree to achieve my long-term career goal of becoming a district nurse.”
