NEW Wrexham striker Stuart Nicholson has revealed he turned down a move to the Scottish Premier League to join the struggling League Two club.

The 20-year-old West Brom prospect has been signed on a 90-day emergency loan and hopes to play his part pulling the Dragons away from relegation.

“I was up in Scotland because I was going to sign for Gretna until the end of the season,” he said yesterday.

“But they had to get rid of a couple of lads first and because I want to play first team football as soon as possible I decided not to hang around once I knew Wrexham were in for me.

“It’s going to be a big challenge but there is basically a new side here now and it’s a new start for everyone.”

Wrexham manager Brian Little also recruited defender Carl Tremarco, reunited with the manager after their time at Tranmere Rovers.

The 22-year old said: “I had to get away from Tranmere in order to be playing first team football and the chance to join up again with Brian Little made it an easy decision for me.

“Wrexham are struggling at the moment, but recent performances suggest that we can turn it round.”
