WREXHAM and Flintshire patients will be the first in Wales to benefit from two important appointments.

The Welsh Ambulance Service has introduced the new patient care service (PCS) customer care supervisors.

The appointments, John Bartley and Joanne Davies, will forge stronger links with hospital staff at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd and Wrexham Maelor to manage the smooth running of the patient transport service.

PCS provides non-emergency and pre-planned transport, to and from hospital for appointments at out-patient clinics, day surgery units, and day centres.

John and Joanne will work closely with the general hospitals and the community hospitals to ensure patient transport is co-ordinated and managed effectively.

Wrexham Maelor-based Joanne Davies said: “We’re part of a new dedicated PCS management structure.

“This will include the introduction of PCS supervisors in each station managing and supervising the operational staff.

“We’ll hope to drive forward the modernisation of PCS.”
