ROUND-THE-CLOCK single lane closures began on the M53 at the weekend with more to come throughout the month.
The closures are part of the £7.5m Highways Agency maintenance project between Junctions 7 and 8 of the motorway.
The work, due to be finished in December, includes the refurbishment of two railway bridges.
The majority of the work is being done overnight but single lane closures in one direction only will be required over the next four weekends.
Traffic will be reduced to a single lane running northbound on Friday, July 10, and southbound from Friday to Monday, July 17-20; and Friday to Monday, July 24-27.
The closures will be effective from 9pm on Friday evenings until 5am on Monday mornings.
A 50mph speed limit will be in place on the single open lane.
Highways Agency Project Manager Phil Hardy-Bishop said: “This is an important scheme and while we have been working hard to minimise disruption to motorway users by limiting lane restrictions and closures and working overnight we do require these closures over the next few weekends.”
