CHESHIRE Police were last night warning that their 999 emergency system was "experiencing difficulties".
The force said they had a stand-by 999 system in place but warned those in life-threatening situations they could also use the standard police number.
A spokeswoman for Cheshire Police said: "We do have the back-up 999 system up and running, but anyone who may be in a life or death emergency can also call 0845 458 0000."
