POLICE have warned people in the Warrington area to be on their guard against bogus callers after two burglaries in 30 minutes.

The first took place around 12.30pm yesterday when two men called at a house in Hopefield Road in Lymm saying they were from the water board. One waited in the kitchen while the other went upstairs.

They later left in a white Transit-type van.

The second burglary took place on Warrington Road in Culcheth just before 1pm when two men, again in a white Transit-type van, told a homeowner they had come to check the water.

They pushed past the resident and went into the house.

Police do not know if anything was taken but are warning householders to be on their guard.

The two men are thought to be about 30. One was 6ft tall, wearing a grey or blue jumper and yellow gardening gloves.

The second man was wearing a grey hooded top, black jacket and trousers and had short dark hair.
