A WAR hero was honoured with a visit to 10 Downing Street to mark Armed Forces Day.
Ivor Cutler, veteran of the Italian campaign, was invited to Downing Street last Thursday as a part of the Prime Minister’s Armed Forces Day activities.
Ivor and his wife Jessie, of Coombe Park Court, Little Sutton, were accompanied by Ellesmere Port and Neston MP Andrew Miller, who had arranged a tour of Parliament for the couple prior to their reception with Gordon Brown.
Ivor said he was proud to be asked to represent his many ex-service friends and thrilled to have his first visit to both Parliament and Downing Street.
He said: “Gordon Brown found time to speak to all of us individually and in a moving speech he thanked us for the commitment we made in the past on behalf of our country.
“Jessie and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we were delighted to have been invited.”
MP Andrew Miller said: “It was a genuine honour to accompany Ivor and Jessie as they represent the many people who give so much for our country during wartime and times of conflict.”
