FORMER royal butler Paul Burrell's brave efforts on I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! have paid off.

Nightingale House has announced that £136,278.38p was raised for the hospice through public voting for Paul.

Paul, who lives in Farndon, came runner-up to comedian Joe Pasquale in the ITV show and succeeded in his mission to win over the British public.

Sixteen pence of every vote cast for Paul, a patron of Nightingale House, went to the hospice.

Jo Young, corporate and trust fundraiser said: 'This is a terrific sum of money for the hospice and was well worth Paul going through the agony of balancing on a tightrope high in the Australian trees, being shut into a cave with spiders and snakes, putting his hand into 'black holes' with moving insects and animals, and, of course, the moment every individual will remember, which was the ultimate bushtucker trial - the eating of the kangeroo's 'pickled onions'!

'As time has elapsed, Paul is now recovering from his ordeal in the jungle, his digestion and of course his discussions with Janet Street-Porter!

'We are absolutely delighted at the sum Paul has earned for the hospice. £136,000 will be a huge boost to the hospice and help us with our continued support of all our patients and their families.'
