VOLUNTEERS have been rolling up their sleeves to give a garden a makeover.

Representatives from Whitby and Stanney College joined forces with residents from Astbury Care Lodge in Great Sutton to give the garden a facelift and plant a vegetable patch to start producing some home-grown treats.

It is part of Cheshire charity The Youth Federation’s Summer of a Lifetime programme, aimed at young people in school Years 11 and 12 who are looking for a life changing opportunity this summer.

The scheme sees 210 young people take part in the challenging project, which will give them the opportunity to improve their team working, problem solving, leadership and communication skills, for free.Š
