STAFF from an environmental company were hard at work in Rivacre Valley nature reserve, cleaning and tending as part of MWH Mersey Basin Week.
The special week is organised by the Mersey Basin Campaign.
Now in its 16th year, it aims to get people out and about enjoying the nature of the region, especially its rivers and waterways.
It also encourages volunteers to help maintain and improve the region’s environment.
MWH sponsored the week’s activities for the seventh year.
The company, which is a global leader in water and environmental engineering, put £10,000 into the week.
This was broken down into grants of about £100 for skips and refreshments for volunteers undertaking environmental projects.
Seven MWH staff spent an entire day in Rivacre Valley undertaking pond management, clearing scrub and coppicing, footpath clearance and building bird and bat boxes.
