STEPHEN Leech is setting a remarkable example in the challenge to create an active Wales.

The Wrexham 21-year-old is visually impaired and yet spends each week climbing and abseiling at Plas Madoc Leisure and Activity Centre.

Stephen began climbing with a group of other local people with visual impairment and learning and physical difficulties as part the Mentro Allan/Venturing Out programme run by Groundwork Wrexham and Flintshire.

His instructors plan to introduce him to outdoor climbing in the summer.
