TATTON Park’s Old Hall is bracing itself for a Viking invasion on Sunday, except this time the invaders come in peace.

In fact they are all members of the Cestrescire Living History group who plan to set up camp in the grounds of the historic house to dispel a few myths and educate.

Doing their best to dispel the Vikings’ reputation as terrifying marauders, re-enactors will be demonstrating the domestic side of Viking life, with authentic cooking over open fires, wood-cutting, spinning, dyeing and weaving.

There will also be demonstrations of Viking combat skills and a chance for visitors to try their on armour and have a go with a longbow.

Other attractions include a Viking Longship, mock naval battles and demonstrations, and a display of falconry at 2pm.

The event runs from noon-5pm and admission is adults £4, child £2, family £10. Park entry is £4.50 per car.

Other events at the historic hall include a wool weaving on Wednesday August 20. To book call 01625 374428.
