A GANG attack in Smallbrook Road in Whitchurch has left a 19-year-old man in hospital with serious head injuries.

Six youths were arrested after a street fight broke out at about 2.20am on Saturday.

They were taken to Shrewsbury Police Station on suspicion of assault and causing grievous bodily harm.

They were interviewed and later released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Smallbrook Road was cordoned off until Saturday afternoon and CID officers were brought in to gather evidence.

The teenager injured in the brawl was initially taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

But he has since been moved to the high dependency unit at the University of North Staffordshire Hospital in Stoke-on- Trent where he is in a stable condition.
