HAVING acquired the football club Northwich Vics owners confirmed on Tuesday they also want to buy the ground.
Responding to a question at a fans meeting about Manchester United’s hire of the Victoria Stadium for their reserves Jim Rushe said: “We don’t get anything from United - not until we own the ground.
“There is no clause in the agreement to say he (Mike Connett) has to sell it to us but the lease puts us in a strong position.”
Nick Bone confirmed: “We are very interested in buying it.”
Rushe and Bone are the main instigators of the takeover and they also assured the meeting they were at Vics for the long term.
Rushe said: “There are no guarantees, but we have not signed a 25 year lease and paying off £500,000 worth of debts for it to be short haul. We have got to stay here.
“I have sons 23 and 15 and I hope they follow me.
“The debts have got to be serviced, but it is not something the club cannot afford.”
They also revealed before Christmas the team will have a new strip, sponsored by Bone’s company Encia, which will be akin to Northwich’s once tradition green shirts and white sleeves.
The meeting was called by Vics Supporters Trust at the Floatel.
