A GOAL apiece from Vics forwards Aaron Burns and Johnny Allan ensured a fifth straight win for Andy Preece’s battling side last night, Thursday.

Playing for pride - and new contracts - after being relegated earlier this month, the home side were comfortable throughout and picked up another three points with two second half strikes.

The visitors’ goal led a charmed life during a goalless first half, a combination of wasteful finishing and good goalkeeping by Lance Cronin keeping rampant Vics at bay.

But Burns finally broke the deadlock when he volleyed home on the hour mark.

And the lead was doubled seven minutes from time when the tireless Allan headed home his ninth goal of the season from an inch-perfect Lee Elam cross.

Despite being doomed to Blue Square North football next term Vics are now top of the Premier division form table.

They are unbeaten in six home games and have picked up 19 points from their last eight games in the league, scoring 16 goals in the process.

Northwich travel to Oxford on Sunday for their last game of the season. Kick off is at 4pm and the official coach for travelling fans leaves Northwich Memorial Hall at 11.30am.

Seats are £12 for adults and £10 concessions. To book, or for more information, call Vics’ general manager Dave Thomas on 01606 44127, or call into the club shop on Witton Street.
