THE Wynnstay Hunt Pony Club celebrated 50 years of pony club camps at Bangor-on-Dee with a get-together for everyone associated with the camps over the years.
A hog roast was held at Bangor-on-Dee racecourse to mark the half century, and also the end of this year’s camp at the venue.
Camp veterans, several from the inaugural year 1958, enjoyed a catching up session and mingled with youngsters from this year’s camp, who after their traditional end-of-camp water fight, burned off any extra energy on bouncy castles.
Many people had fond memories of Mrs Joy Reid, the first matron at camp, and her husband David who helped out with the rides, and if a pony went lame, would administer honey and aspirin and by morning it was sound.
Their daughter Miss Sarah Reid was a camp instructor, and was at the celebration enjoying re-living memories with old friends.
