Carmarthen Town 1 Aberystwyth Town 0
VETERAN defender, Terry Evans’ last-minute header from Paul Keddle’s cross maintained Carmarthen Town’s European hopes, while leaving Aberystwyth Town manager, Brian Coyne shell shocked.
Despite Coyne’s frustrations, however, he still found time to praise his side’s performance and attitude.
“I would have been disappointed with a point, quite apart from nothing,” he said. However, after dominating the first half and generally containing Carmarthen, we paid the price for wasting chances.”
Coyne felt Gavin Cadwallader’s 52nd minute red card was harsh, querying whether he was the “last man”.
He accepted the red card shown to Aneurin Thomas following an after match fracas, but claimed the Aber defender lost his temper after being subject to unacceptable personal, beyond the joke or “wind-up“, abuse throughout the game from a Carmarthen player.
Although they were understandably down, Coyne felt his players would need little lifting for tomorrow night’s home clash with Caernarfon.
