VAUXHALL’S Ellesmere Port plant has become the first organisation in the world to be presented with an award for excellence in promoting team member engagement.

Back in November, 2007, the carmaker began working closely with Dale Carnegie corporate training providers in order to develop a culture of trust and respect within the workplace.

Since then 2,200 staff at the North Road site have successfully been trained, leading to Vauxhall landing the award.

David Fagiano, chief operating officer at Dale Carnegie’s New York headquarters, presented the award to plant director, Tom Schmidt.

Mr Fagiano said he was impressed with the level of commitment and involvement shown by employees at Vauxhall.

Mr Schmidt said: “The feedback I have received from employees has been outstanding.

“People are our most important asset and we need them to be engaged in the business. To be the first organisation in the world to win this award is an excellent achievement.”
