A PARTNERSHIP between a school and a football club will enable teenagers to get top-class coaching.
The University Church England Academy and Vauxhall Motors FC will provide 16- to 17-year-old football players in the area quality coaching, regular competitive fixtures and a level 2 or 3 sports qualification.
The academy, which moves into a £25m new building with state-of-the-art sports facilities in October, will run a development in football programme that will combine playing football and academic study.
This will allow talented young football players to gain employment in football, the sports industry or continue onto further education.
An academy spokesperson said: “We are delighted to be working closely with Vauxhall Motors FC who are the primary football club in our area.
“With the quality coaching the students will receive we hope the young footballers who graduate from our course can go on to represent Vauxhall Motors FC in the Conference North or even get into the professional game.”
Anyone interested in applying for the course or who requires further information can contact the University Church of England Academy on 0151 3382400 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
