WEST Cheshire College will be hosting a unique art exhibition that later this month.

Motion Disabled: Unlimited is part of the London 2012 Festival, from September 5-8, at its Ellesmere Port campus.

It features an 11 metre high inflatable sculpture that explores the physical movements of people with disabilities, and will be displayed within the college’s rotunda.

Created by award-winning artist Simon McKeown, the sculpture is part of the London 2012 festival, a spectacular 12-week national celebration running from June 21 - September 9, bringing together leading artists from across the world.

It has been commissioned by the Unlimited programme, part of the Cultural Olympiad.

Unlimited encourages collaborations and partnerships between disability arts organisations, disabled and deaf artists, producers and mainstream organisations to celebrate the inspiration of the Olympic and Paralympic Games and to create original and exciting works.

McKeown’s Motion Disabled is a digital exploration of the human body and has exhibited across the globe including South Korea, Argentina, USA and Saudi Arabia.

The inflatable sculpture forms the core part of the exhibition and is supported by a new video art series of 3D motion capture based work featuring the Paralympians.

Viewers are given the chance to watch and study the physicality and movement of the modern day disabled athlete.
