SPIRALLING petrol prices have prompted a tyre specialist in Ellesmere Port to offer tips on making cars more economical.

Rob Johnson, manager of Ellesmere – Maple Tyres, says correctly aligned and inflated tyres can give drivers more miles for their money.

He said: “There are some simple steps a motorist can take to cut fuel costs and ensure their car is kept in a good working order.

“The current economic climate is still biting and by simply having your tyres correctly inflated and your wheels aligned you can save pounds.

“Also, ensuring that your vehicle has fresh oil and is serviced regularly will keep it in good condition and save you money in the long run.”

PetrolPrices.com states that the average price per litre of unleaded in the UK on January 28 was 128.62p per litre. Six months earlier, on July 12, 2010, it was 118.2p per litre.

Until Thursday, March 31, Ellesmere – Maple Tyres is offering motorists a free wheel alignment check and a £5 money-off wheel alignment voucher to be used should remedial work be required. The voucher is available to download from www.protyre.co.uk.
