A CLASSIC car show and an appearance from a popular TV personality are expected to pull in the crowds at Fords of Winsford’s 50th birthday bash.

The car supermarket, based at Wharton Retail Park, celebrates its half-century next month.

As part of the celebrations the company will be holding a classic car weekend on Saturday-Sunday, October 10-11.

And there will also be an appearance by TV weatherman Fred Talbot – the voice of the company’s new radio adverts.

Fred will be meeting fans and signing autographs from noon-2pm on the Saturday, and will also present the keys to the winner of FoW’s Classic Mini giveaway.

Loaned by Mouldsworth Motor Museum, the display will include up to a dozen of the UK’s best loved cars from the last 50 years – including a 1968 Austin 1800S Rally, a 1969 Mini Cooper S, a 1969 Jaguar E-Type and a 1962 Ford Anglia 105E.

FoW’s new ‘Fred’ series, which begins this week, is the latest in a long line of distinctive radio advertisements.

Director Paul Ford said: “With his enthusiastic style and delivery, we expect Fred to attract a great deal of goodwill to the company.

“We’redelighted to have secured his services.”
