THOUSANDS of people in Ellesmere Port and Neston are being offered free training and skills support to enhance their job prospects in retail and hospitality this Christmas.
Neighbourhood Investor Plus Dane Group has teamed up with training provider Scientiam to offer its unemployed customers the chance to learn skills that retailers and hospitality employers are looking for in the festive period.
The Government-funded voluntary scheme, which includes training sessions followed by potentially paid retail placements of various lengths, has already seen expressions of interest from scores of local people.
Plus Dane learning and development officer Sharon Vaughan said: “Every one of our new tenants will be offered this training.
“This initiative will move quickly to give unemployed tenants the opportunity to get paid work, boost their CV and hopefully go on to sustained employment.”
Sara Challinor, Scientiam managing director, said: “As one of the leading training providers in the region, Scientiam has an extensive network of employer partners across Ellesmere Port and Neston and an ability to offer bespoke family-friendly placements to suit each individual’s needs.”
Scientiam, which provides training and apprenticeships in a variety of sectors – including retail, hospitality, leisure and business administration – is also opening a one-stop skills shop in the centre of Ellesmere Port.
