IF you’ve ever fancied becoming a lifeguard – here’s your chance!

Sir John Deane’s College Leisure Centre is hosting a week-long training course later this month.

The course is ideal for any swimmers who would like paid work as a lifeguard in a leisure centre. It’s open to swimmers who can:

Swim 50m front crawl in less than a minute

Swim 50m breaststroke in less than 1min 20secs

Swim 25m on their back using breaststroke legs

Recover a brick from the bottom of the pool.

During the intensive course, swimmers will be taught resuscitation techniques, spinal turns, health and safety and first aid.
