RUSH-HOUR traffic was gridlocked on the A483 on Monday night because of a broken-down crane.
Commuters travelling on the Wrexham bypass near Ruabon faced huge delays as vehicles were forced to merge into a single lane for more than five hours. Road officers set up diversions.
The crane broke down south- bound at Junction 2 near the B5426 turn-off. The firm was unable to recover the vehicle until after 10pm.
A North Wales Police spokesman said: “Officers were at the scene and the owners of the crane organised recovery but it was coming from quite a distance away and not expected to arrive until after 10pm. Until then the lane remained closed.”
