A WIRRAL man yesterday appeared before a Greek court accused of killing a teenage holiday-maker.

Peter Navarro, 21, from Leasowe, has been charged with the manslaughter of 17-year-old Paddy Doran.

Nine others, including four Wirral men who were holiday-ing with Mr Navarro, have been charged with causing affray.

They were named by the Greek authorities as David Bramall, 32, John Graham, 23, Stephen Renshaw, 34, and Warren Sandals, 22.

Paul Dunn, 26, Danny McLoughlin, 19, and Andy Cot-grave, 18, are also believed to be among the nine, although this has not yet been confirmed by the Foreign Office.

A 10th man, 33-year-old Robbie Hughes, from Leasowe, who was not questioned over Mr Doran's murder, has been charged with possessing an illegal drug.

A further seven Britons were released without charge.

The men appeared in court on the island of Rhodes following their arrests in the resort of Faliraki.

Trouble flared inside the resort's Q Club when an argument broke out between the group from Wirral and some Irish men.

Greek police were called and as the fight escalated Mr Doran, 17, originally from Ireland but now from Peterborough, was left lying on the floor in a pool of blood.

His death has rocked the Faliraki resort which is a hot spot for young British people going on holiday.

Yesterday consul staff began contacting relatives of those involved.

Mr Navarro lives with his mother, Mandy. It is understood members of his family have already flown to Greece.

A Foreign Oppice spokeswoman said: "I can confirm that Mr Navarro has been charged with manslaughter and causing an affray.

"Nine others have been detained in connection with this incident."

Police are now stepping up patrols in Faliraki as holiday makers continue to pour into the party resort.

They are also speaking to bar owners and tourists to try to prevent any further trouble.

Members of the British consulate have been in contact with the men who are currently being held in custody in a Greek prison cell.

A spokesman for the families said last night: "We are not prepared to say anything which may have a detrimental effect on the young men out there.

"They are our sons and brothers and we want them back as soon as possible. In the meantime, we will continue to seek advice from solicitors and the Consul."
