WREXHAM tour guides Phil and Karen Phillips have now put it all in writing.
From staging tours through ancient thoroughfares and holding groups in thrall with tales of the town’s colourful past, the couple have now put a taste of their guided walk between two covers by special request.
“People kept asking about an accompanying booklet or souvenir so we thought okay, let’s try and provide one”, said Phil.
“People on the trail have come from all over the world including the USA, India, Australia and even Azerbaijan, as well as locally, and it was their enthusiasm and curiosity that inspired us to get it written down.”
The couple, whose launch of Wrexham Town Trails was so successful they have hardly stopped walking the streets since, still made time to write a book based on the town’s historic fascinations: Old Wrexham: From Earliest times to the Victorian Era.
Phil said: “It traces the development of the town from the 12th Century.
“It’s a taste of Wrexham’s past which puts things in perspective and may even inspire people to delve deeper.”
The book, priced £4.95 is at various local outlets including WHSmith, Hope Street; Siop Y Siswrn, Marchnad y Bobl; Gareth at the Butter Market; Cartwright’s, Market Street, Rhos; and Wrexham Heritage Centre, Regent Street.
The guided tours are still running on Sundays at noon and Tuesdays at 10am and 2pm. Groups are welcome by arrangement. For further information on the book or guided tours, call 01978 29050, email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit www.wrexhamtowntrails.co.uk.
