CHILDREN from across Wrexham donned robes and mortar boards to attend the Children s University Gold Award Ceremony at Glyndwr University.

All students received the highest award available within the Children s University for their work in a range of activities including sports, reading, drama, dance and music.

Performances were given by children and young people from The Venture and Black Association of Women Step Out (BAWSO).

The Children s University is a partnership between Wrexham Council's Youth Service and Glyndwr University.

Currently, 8,647 Wrexham children aged five to 19 are involved in the University s activities.

It was the first of its kind in Wales and is being used as a best practice model.

Twenty other local authorities across Wales have now adopted the scheme and affiliate to the Children and Young People s University Cymru.
