A TEENAGER was awarded in an annual Recognition of Achievement Day.

Laura Miles was named as Wrexham council’s Modern Apprentice of the Year at the authority’s event, held at the Memorial Hall.

Laura, 19, a former pupil of Ysgol Bryn Alyn, joined the council’s modern apprentice scheme in September 2007 and has just been awarded her NVQ Level 2 in IT.

She started work with the business liaison team and was offered a graded administrative assistant post within Wrexham ITeC.

Laura said: “I’m pleased and proud to receive this award and would like to thank my colleagues for their continued support.”

Nathan Williams, 20, a former pupil of Darland High School, was runner-up and works in the council’s human resources department.

Joint third was awarded to Natasha Mocko, who works in the finance and performance department, and Charlotte Flett who works with the environment department.
