The New Saints 4 Carmarthen Town 1

THE New Saints wrapped up their championship winning campaign with a convincing victory in their final outing of the season at Treflan.

Having secured their third successive title the previous weekend, a brace from John Toner helped the Saints celebrate in style.

The champions had made the perfect start when Chris King crossed from the left after 10 minutes and Barry Hogan squeezed the ball in from a tight angle.

Carmarthen equalised with Paul Fowler's speculative 22-yard strike.

The Saints, however, were not to be denied on their big night as they struck three times in the last 12 minutes to clinch victory.

First King crossed for substitute Mike Wilde to nod in at the far post, then two minutes later Carl Lamb's shot was blocked and Toner fired home the rebound.

Two minutes from time John Leah’s pass found Toner, who fired home his across keeper Neil Thomas for his second of the night.
