SWIMING: CHILDREN in Wrexham will be making a splash this summer thanks to Wrexham Council, the National Assembly and the Welsh Amateur Swimming Association.

Free swimming will be available during the summer holidays for children aged 16 and under, following the success of a similar scheme during the Easter holidays earlier this year.

In order to qualify for the free swimming, children will need to be members of their local library, and those under eight must be accompanied by a full-paying adult.

Alan Watkin, Chief Leisure, Libraries and Culture Officer, said: 'Wrexham is very pleased to be taking part in the free swimming scheme again. Swimming is a great activity and I would encourage children to join their friends and head down to the nearest centre this summer.'
