EUROPEAN hopefuls Connah's Quay Nomads could be without Dave Swannick and Danny Jellicoe for today's home clash with Aberystwyth.

Up to third place and just two points behind Rhyl following their 2-1 midweek victory at Porthmadog, Nomads could soon start dusting down their passports if they add Aber to their list of conquests.

"With just four games for us left it's getting really exciting," said manager Neville Powell.

"We know that our rivals have games in hand, but we've got the points on the board and they've got to earn theirs to drop us down. This is why we need to keep winning and let the others feel all the pressure."

Swannick was replaced by Graham Roach after pulling a muscle late on at Y Traeth, while Jellicoe is doubtful with a neck strain.

"I'll leave it as late as possible before making a final decision and can only hope that both come through in time," said Powell, who could switch Chris Williams to the back and again utilise versatile Roach.

"We've got various options depending on what's needed, but the spirit in the dressing room is great and now that we've come this close the lads want to go for it big-time."

Aberystwyth Town can still have a say in matters at both ends of the table, writes John Bridgwater.

The Green and Blacks also take on fourth-placed Welshpool and struggling Cwmbran in the next few weeks.

"We're in a situation where there's not a lot of pressure on us, but three of our next four games are going to be very important for our opponents," said manager Brian Coyne.

"Nomads is always a tough place to go. We lost to them in the Welsh Cup and we know it's going to be difficult. But hopefully we can relax and put on a good performance."

Defender Aneurin Thomas is still suspended while Glyndwr Hughes and Geoff Kellaway are both struggling with injuries.

Winger Craig Jones is back following a knee injury which looked likely to keep him out for the rest of the season.

Meanwhile, Newi Cefn Druids bid to take a giant step towards safety by completing a double over today's visitors Haverfordwest.

The Ancients won in West Wales earlier in the season, and are targeting a repeat to ease their relegation worries and keep them in contention for the FAW Premier Cup.

Despite suffering a 3-1 reverse at high-flying TNS in midweek, the Druids are in good spirits for today's clash at Plas Kynaston.

"We can take positives from our second half performance, and must look to take that into today,” said assistant-boss Graham Jones.

Skipper Aled Rowlands returns after missing midweek through illness while striker Lee Jones could also return.
