TICKETS are available on Monday for the celebrations to honour the arrival of the Olympic Torch in Chester.

From Monday, Cheshire West and Chester Council will be distributing more than 20,000 tickets for the free event at Chester Racecourse.

The tickets – limited to six per household – will be available from all council libraries, including mobiles, on completion of a short application form.

Alternatively, tickets can be ordered via a dedicated telephone booking line (01244 304669) open from 10-4pm, Monday to Friday, from April 16.

The Olympic Torch arrives in the city on Tuesday, May 29. Celebrations start on the central area of the racecourse at 5pm,with the site open from 4pm.

The show will provide five hours of family entertainment, including music and dance.

Cllr Stuart Parker, executive member for culture and recreation, said: “Demand is sure to be high so it is important you collect your tickets as early as possible to avoid disappointment.”
