THOUSANDS flocked to enjoy a day out as guests of Cheshire Police!
The Cheshire Constabulary headquarters in Winsford opened it gates to an estimated 5,000 people for a family day of fun and education along with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Throughout the day visitors where able to watch arena displays showing the police and fire officers carrying out a variety of work which included armed officers stopping a car with suspected drug dealers on board and an extraction of a road traffic collision victim from a badly damaged car.
Visitors also had the chance to visit exhibitions and stands, which gave an insight into the variety of roles and work undertaken by the police and the fire service.
The free day encouraged visitors to get involved in hands-on activities with staff who spent the day explaining how their role assisted in reducing crime.
Both organisations used the day as an opportunity to appeal for volunteers to sign up for various volunteer opportunities within the two organisations such as the fire cadets and Special Constabulary.
Dog handling, forensic investigation and neighbourhood policing were among the exhibitions.
