HEAVY rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of the thousands who turned out to see a trio of giant pop acts perform at this year’s Christmas tree lights switch-on at Cheshire Oaks.

Kanye West’s protégé Mr Hudson kicked off Friday’s festivities by performing his hit single Supernova.

It went down a storm with the adoring crowd, particularly as the British singer, despite suffering from a cold, braved the horrendous weather to join them in the rain.

Swedish singer Basshunter took to the stage next for an energetic four-song set, which included the hits Now You’re Gone and All I Ever Wanted, leaving the crowd nicely warmed up for the headline act.

The Saturdays were greeted with screams of excitement as they opened with latest single Forever is Over before performing top five hits Issues and Just Can’t Get Enough.

After their performance the girls went on to reveal their next single will be Ego, before they switched on the lights of the UK’s biggest Christmas tree with help from Basshunter.

The huge tree, which stands 90ft tall, is decorated with 100,000 lights and 80,000 baubles.

Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet said 15,000 people attended the outlet during the course of the evening.
