DETERMINED thieves made two attempts to steal a Vauxhall Corsa from a driveway.
They initially targeted the car in Clifton Gardens, Ellesmere Port at 1.35am on Saturday, bending back the driver’s door and lodging a piece of wood between the steering wheel and accelerator. They were disturbed by a neighbour.
The pair returned between 3.45 and 5.15am the same day and stole the vehicle. They were both white teenagers, one in a white and blue striped hoodie, the other in a light grey hoodie.
Two men were scared off after trying to steal a moped from the McGarva Way car park in Ellesmere Port around 11.10am on Tuesday, July 1. They had snapped off the steering lock and were pushing it along when a witness shouted at them and they climbed over the nearby clinic wall, running off towards Whitby Park. The moped was left damaged.
Vandals smashed house windows in Ruthin Court, Percival Road and Sutton Way, all Ellesmere Port between May 30 and Sunday.
In separate offences, thieves stole two BMX bikes from Tennyson Road, Whitby and a workbag from a Honda Civic in Newnham Drive, Ellesmere Port, both on Saturday night; took a black Giant mountain bike and a set of Hippo golf clubs from Philips Lane, Great Sutton between Friday and Sunday; stole a BMX from outside a newsagents in Whetstone Hey, Great Sutton at 11am on Saturday; stole a Vauxhall Nova from Skipton Drive, Little Sutton on Friday night; stole a container and milk from a doorstep in Windfield Gardens, Little Sutton early on Friday; stole lengths of copper cabling from an exterior wall of a business in New Bridge Court, NewBridge Road, Ellesmere Port on Thursday night; stole a customer’s navy blue purse from the toilets at the Market Hall, Ellesmere Port just after noon on Thursday; caused extensive damage to two business units in Ross Road, Ellesmere Port between Wednesday and Saturday and stole property; took a collapsible bike from Earle Drive, Parkgate between Thursday and Saturday; took a cast iron doormat from Gorstons Lane, Little Neston on Wednesday; stole a petrol strimmer from Faraday Road, Whitby and stole a Renault Scenic from Frome Court, Westminster estate after burgling the house, both on Monday, June 30; took a man’s wallet from his back pocket at the Old Orleans, Cheshire Oaks between 7 and 8.10pm on June 28; and stole a CCTV camera from a business in Rosscliffe Road, Ellesmere Port at 10.30pm on June 27.
