BEAUTY students and staff at Mid-Cheshire College held a therapy day last week to raise funds for a Northwich schoolboy suffering from a rare skin disease.

Five-year-old Danny Griffiths, a pupil at St Wilfrid’s Catholic Primary School, Hartford, was born with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), an inherited condition in which the skin and internal body linings blister at the slightest knock or rub, causing painful open wounds.

“When we heard of Danny’s condition we wanted to help in some way, so we offered staff and students beauty treatments for donations and held a raffle,” said tutor Diane Buzel.

And students handed over a cheque for £180.44 to Danny’s delighted grandma, Sue Thordarson.

“The money will be spent on special bedding to enable Danny to sleep more comfortably,” she added.
