AN ASBO yob who threatened a group of teenagers with a meat cleaver has been warned he could be locked up.
The 16-year-old from Lostock, who cannot be named for legal reasons, snarled “at least one of you is going to get it” as he loomed towards them wielding the foot-long blade.
The defendant, currently subject to a three-year ASBO, pleaded guilty to affray and carrying a bladed weapon last month, and appeared at Vale Royal Youth Court on Wednesday.
Karen Morgan-Read, prosecuting, told the court the scenes took place at Vicar’s Way, Northwich at about 4.30pm on August 21.
One boy recognised the defendant and began fearing for his safety after he saw the weapon.
Ms Morgan-Read said the defendant “approached the group in a threatening manner holding the meat cleaver” before shouting: “I’m going to get one of you. At least one of you is going to get it.”
Chris Johnson, defending, said the yob had threatened the group for a £10 bet after being “egged on” by a group of 20 friends.
But he said his client “had no intention whatsoever” of using the weapon.
Magistrates adjourned to case to allow the Probation Service to compile reports evaluating all possible sentencing options, including custody. The teenager will learn his fate on January 23.
