BOY, who allegedly attacked his carer to such an extent he was left unconscious, has been remanded into secure accommodation.

The boy, 15, remained handcuffed throughout the short hearing at Flintshire Magistrates Court at the request of the prosecution.

The youngster, who has been in foster care for years, is charged with assaulting social worker Brian Lloyd, his carer at a private home in the Hanmer area of Wrexham.

He is also charged with stealing property from the home officer and causing damage.

The youth, originally from the Leeds area, did not enter any pleas at this stage.

Magistrates heard he would be taken directly from court into the care of the Leeds social services department which was responsible for him.

His solicitor, Bethan Jones, said she was concerned people seemed to be washing their hands of him.

She had originally been told the Leeds authority did not have any accommodation for him but the Wrexham youth offending team had taken a rather robust view.

Once the court order was made then arrangements had been made to transport him to Leeds immediately and the authority would have to comply with the court order.

Magistrates said the boy should be remanded into the care of the local authority, into secure accommodation, in order to prevent the commission of serious offences.
