A TEENAGE girl has been told she is “likely” to be given a custodial sentence after pleading guilty to stealing 12 wedding dresses, worth more than £8,000, from a shop in Winsford.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted on Wednesday to burgling Tiaras and Tails, Delamere Street on February 17.

Vale Royal Youth Court heard the defendant and an accomplice were seen on CCTV loitering in the back yard of the shop on the afternoon of Saturday, February 16.

Prosecutor Julie Barr said the pair left before returning and breaking into the store at about 12.30am on Sunday.

The teenager, who has five previous theft convictions, also admitted charges of burglary and attempted burglary.

The court heard she attempted to break into a house on Delamere Street on February 7 before being chased off and was jointly responsible for stealing £290 of whiskey and vodka from the One Stop Shop on Delamere Street a week later.

The girl arrived at court from custody after breaching strict bail conditions imposed after her previous hearing. She will be sentenced next Wednesday.
