THE start of the new school term has seen the introduction of joint sports teams to represent the Winsford High School Federation.

From now on Verdin and Woodford Lodge High Schools will have a combined team representing the town in sports against other schools from the region.

Mike Rogers, a PE teacher at Verdin High School, said:

“This opportunity allows students from all across Winsford to play together to enhance the sporting prowess of the town.

“The introduction of the federation sports teams is a big step forward for our aim of bringing the young people in this town together.”

The new-look Year 8 boys’ football team will kick off the new era next Wednesday, October 1, against Eaton Bank High School in the Cheshire Cup.
