VOLUNTEERS are urgently needed to help read Whitchurch news on to audio discs for the blind.

Margaret Hollins of Burleydam is hanging up her microphone after almost 15 years with the West Shropshire Talking Newspapers for the Blind.

Once a month, she reads five minutes of Herald articles on to a mini disc recorder.

She shares the Whitchurch slots with librarian Heather Dulson of Station Road.

But Margaret, who is retired, desperately needs to find someone to fill her spots due to other commitments.

“It’s very rewarding and doesn’t take up much time at all,” said Margaret. “We just have to choose a selection of articles and read them on to recording equipment which is provided.

“The discs are sent out in an envelope already prepared to be sent back again, so it’s no hassle.

“There’s no experience necessary at all - and if I can manage it, anyone can!”
