IDENTICAL twin Scott Davidson and his late brother Jamie have been associated with heartache in the lives of their loved ones.

Parents Geoff and Janice, of Elton, are coming to terms with Scott’s murder conviction just four years after the death of his twin Jamie in a head-on collision at Frodsham.

Davidson, 23, who grew up in Chester and attended Kingsway High School, has an older brother Craig but was deeply affected by the death of his twin.

He and his brother Jamie featured in The Chronicle in 2006 when they enlisted for the Cheshire Regiment but both left after completing basic training.

That’s why Davidson’s claim the shotgun pointed at Mr Ithell had just ‘gone off’ by accident was met with disbelief by the prosecution.

Davidson then worked in various jobs including at Hapsford services and Manley Boarding Kennels as well as on the doors at Chester and Nantwich which was how he met former doorman Mr Ithell and they became friends.

It was while working as a bouncer at Destiny and Elite nightclub at Cheshire Oaks that he met barmaid Horton in February last year and they moved in together in the September after getting engaged on holiday in Greece.

Despite his low income, Davidson wanted to look the part.

He shelled out for a sporty Subaru Impreza car with expensive insurance prompting him to approach Mr Ithell for loans which he had no prospect of repaying.

First Davidson contemplated an armed robbery to address their financial woes – with his old workplace at Hapsford services the favoured target.

He put together ‘a robber’s kit’ with an imitation firearm, balaclavas and a baton.

The plan to ‘take out’ Ithell came later.
